Meet Landrie Ethredge!

What's your professional background?

I first began seeing clients in the private practice setting, focusing primarily on marriage counseling. I then moved on to work in the in-patient setting of a local psychiatric hospital and addiction treatment facility, before starting my current private practice in 2019.

What do you love about your work?

I feel deeply honored to witness the vulnerability and courage of my clients as they share their experiences with me. Getting to support my clients as they grow their self-compassion and agency is truly amazing. I still can’t believe I get to do this for a living!

What drew you to becoming a therapist?

I became a therapist in part because of my own healing journey. The experience of healing from my own trauma wounds propelled me to want to help others feel the same relief I'd experienced.

What’s your speciality?

I'm continually drawn to working with women who have experienced trauma and emotional neglect in childhood. I love walking with clients as they learn to have compassion for themselves and set boundaries with others, to experience themselves, their relationships, and life more fully.

What’s your treatment style?

I use a mixture of psycho-education and supportive listening. I believe 1) it's crucial to understand how your brain and nervous system work, and 2) that you are the expert on your life and I am here to support your brain and body's ability to heal itself.

Most likely to discuss during a treatment?

Your childhood! More precisely, how your behavioral and emotional templates were formed early on. I believe the key to unlocking a healthy adulthood is often found in the past.

Hobbies outside of work?

I walk a lot! I have a Husky named Nika who keeps me very busy. I also love to read who-done-its (a love instilled in me by my late grandmother, "Dot"), spend time with family, and hike when I can escape to North Carolina!

What is your favorite self-care practice/coping skills?

Therapy, daily walks, mindfulness, and non-judgmental curiosity towards myself.
